“Online gambling has become a menace to our society.”

These were the words of Coach Robert Labos, CEO and Clinical Treatment Director of KAYA Rehab Global, during a special interview aired on DZMM Radyo Patrol 630 and DZMM Teleradyo on July 12, 2025.

The feature marked a major milestone for KAYA Rehab Global—not only for being invited to one of the country’s most respected media platforms—but also for pushing forward its mission of raising national awareness on gambling addiction, particularly the fast-rising threat of online gambling. This follows previous appearances on television, further establishing KAYA as a trusted voice in addiction treatment and recovery.

Joining Coach Robert on-air was Ken Lester Cuyugan, a recovering online gambling addict and current client at KAYA, who courageously shared his lived experience.

Ken’s gambling habit started at age 7 with small card games. Over the years, it escalated into casino visits and, during the pandemic, to compulsive online gambling. At his lowest point, Ken lost as much as ₱500,000 in one week, borrowing heavily and losing the trust of his loved ones.

Now nearly a year into his recovery, Ken is undergoing KAYA’s 10-week Primary Intensive Treatment Program—a structured, holistic model based on Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Schema Therapy, and the Twelve Steps. Today, Ken also volunteers at KAYA to help others find the same hope he has found.

Coach Robert emphasized that online gambling’s accessibility and secrecy make it far more destructive than most people realize. He called on the public, regulators, and families to take this issue seriously—and to make recovery options more known and accessible.
